Lidl, Sainsbury’s and Tesco food and drink warnings: Recalls on potentially dangerous foods
Metal, plastic, eggs and dairy are among the ‘foreign bodies’ potentially in a number of food products being stocked at well-known supermarkets in the UK. Tesco and Sainsbury’s are among the retailers issuing recalls on products but there are well-known manufactures on the list too which could be stocked elsewhere.
The Food Standards Agency is the government department responsible for protecting public heath. Recalls issued by the Agency are to ensure that customers are aware that products may have a problem with them, making them unfit for sale. A number of food products have been listed by the department and recalled recently.
Tesco has issued two product recalls where it is believed the items may contain metal, while Sainsbury’s has also issued a recall, due to an undeclared ingredient. The ‘Taste The Difference Pesto Swirled Houmous’ contains milk, which is not listed on the label.

Both stores have apologised for any inconvenience caused, according to Devon Live, stating that anyone affected can return the product to the supermarket it was purchased from and receive a full refund. A number of products from across the sector have been listed by the Food Standards Agency including the latest by Lidl, which is recalling Starovice Czech Lager 5.0% because of undeclared sulphur dioxide. Lidl GB: Starovice Czech Lager 5.0%
