Michigan’s Best Local Eats: Tia’s is Saginaw’s only drive-thru soul food restaurant
BUENA VISTA, MI — Tia’s Soul is back in business and serving familiar customer favorites like ribs and fish, plus brunch.
The brunch menu, available from 10 a.m. to noon, includes chicken and waffles, fish, eggs and grits, a “country combo,” bacon and egg sandwich, pancakes and more.
Tia’s Soul, formerly located in the SVRC Marketplace, celebrated its grand opening at its new Buena Vista Township location this week. The soul food restaurant, best known for its fish, ribs, wings, strawberry cake and banana pudding, is now located at 3319 E. Holland Road.
Barnes Reynolds said the restaurant is affectionately named for his wife and business partner, Letia Reynolds, who “puts her soul into everything she does.”
Letia Reynolds said customer favorites include the fish, baby back ribs, buttermilk fried chicken wings, smothered chicken, strawberry cake and banana pudding.
“Everything,” Barnes Reynolds said. “It’s really hard (to choose one) because they pretty much like everything.”
Tia’s Soul is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Brunch is served between 10 a.m. and noon. The restaurant offers drive-thru service, online ordering and DoorDash delivery. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the owners plan to add dine-in service at a later date, first to senior citizens.
