GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Minetta Tavern sizzles up the best hamburgers in the state, according to a new ranking from The Daily Meal.
The food website’s list of “The Best Burger in Every State” crowns the French bistro in Greenwich Village as the creator of the best burger in New York.
The restaurant, which opened in 1937, is located on 113 MacDougal St. in Manhattan.
“Minetta Tavern is a classic New York restaurant, but it’s the Black Label Burger that put it on the map,” writes the authors of The Daily Meal’s rankings. “It’s juicy, savory, salty and totally soul-satisfying.”
Minetta Tavern features two burgers on its dinner menu:
Minetta Burger: Cheddar, Caramelized Onions, Pommes Frites
Black Label Burger: Selection of prime dry-aged beef cuts, Caramelized onions, Pommes Frites
However, the restaurant closed for take-out and delivery on July 4, and in-house dining will remain closed per current COVID-19 restrictions.
“Despite our desire to continue serving our community, the temporary closure will allow us to make improvements and to ensure we are taking every necessary precaution in line with the CDC, WHO and local government recommendations,” Minetta wrote on its Instagram account.
Minetta Tavern ranked as the fifth-best burger joint in the nation in the Daily Meal’s 2019 list of the 101 best burgers in America.
